Helping educational organisations scale with AI
The quicker pitch: TaxZap
I’ll be totally honest: I hate doing my Self Assessment.
Until I learned I was missing out on hundreds sometimes thousands of pounds by not catching tax relief on eligible expenses. Fortunately TaxZap works quickly to help me:
- Claim expenses
- File my Self Assessment
In as little as ten minutes you can stop HMRC taking more than they should.
The kicker? They use Open Banking, it’s completely automatic and it’s all for as little as £89 (or £220 with help from a senior tax advisor).

Our Take
Appeals
Licensing revenue: OneHive licenses the platform to organisations in need of a digital infrastructure to help them deliver and scale knowledge transfer allowing them to target a range of sectors. This has been profitable for them so far.
Strong cash flow: The first Hive created was TutorHive - empowering
learners by finding the perfect tutor for them based on their unique personality and learning needs. TutorHive is now positioned to scale allowing the business to invest more heavily into more hives using the cash.
Risks
The team is too small to deliver on incoming large prospects: Now the licensing model is built up, large contracts with strong account management requirements are needed. OneHive need to scale their hiring to fill the demand which could reduce focus on growth.
Long sales cycles: Operating in the charities and NGO sector causes delays on conversion time. Ensuring contracts are in place and revenue visibility is strong will allow the team to further grow the business organically.
